NAY PYI TAW, 6 March — Chairman of the Leading Committee for
Observance of the 62nd Anniversary Armed Forces Day, Member of the State Peace
and Development Council, Chief of Armed Forces Training Lt-Gen Aung Htwe,
accompanied by Chairman of the Work Committee for the 62nd Anniversary Armed
Forces Day Parade Vice-Chief of Armed Forces Training Brig-Gen Zaw Win and
responsible personnel Military columns participating in 62nd Anniversary Armed
Forces Day Parade inspected went on an inspection tour of the military columns
participating in the 62nd Anniversary Armed Forces Day Parade at the parade
ground, here, this afternoon.
Tatmadawmen from Anawrahta Column led by Col Aung Gyi, Kyansittha Column by Col
Thein Zaw, Bayintnaung Column by Col Zaw Oo, Aungzeya Column by Col San Win,
Sinphyushin Column by Col Than Lwin, Bandoola Column by Col Khin Maung Hsint and
Myawady Column by Col Nay Win practised the parade drill under the command of
Parade Commander Brig-Gen Myint Naung.
After the inspection of the parade drills, Chief of Armed Forces Training Lt-Gen
Aung Htwe instructed the responsible personnel to make efforts in the parade
drills and made arrangements to fulfil their needs.

Minister inspects rice, bran oil mills
Nay Pyi Taw, 6 March — Minister for Commerce Brig-Gen Tin
Naing Thein inspected a Brazilian banana field of Khwanyo company in Kyaukse
Township on 2 March.
During his visit to a rice mill and a bran oil mill of Myanma Agricultural
Produce Trading, the minister made arrangements to boost production.
The following day, the minister viewed the onion fields of Shwepadetha company
in Myingyan Township, and discussed means to reduce cultivation cost, to
distribute the produce at reasonable prices and to produce and distribute
quality seeds.
At a meeting with entrepreneurs in Myingyan, the minister urged them to serve
the interest of the public in doing business.
Together with Chairman of Magway Division Peace and Development Council Col
Phone Maw Shwe, the minister held a meeting with entrepreneurs in Magway.
He pointed out the need to cultivate more crops that have ready markets.
The minister also inspected onion fields of local enterprises in Natmauk and
Myothit Townships.

Officials of US, British embassies visiting NLD HQ daily They
visited NLD HQ 18 times in Feb NLD (Central) following orders of two embassies
to the detriment of nation and people’s interest
Yangon, 6 March — The National League for Democracy (Central)
has been relying too much on foreign countries, especially the Western powers,
while disregarding the wish of its members inside the nation and the people.
NLD’s acts stand witness to the fact that the party instead of keeping in the
fore the national cause is trying to make the entire nation become a
colonialist-enslaved minion.
The people are criticizing the NLD (Central) for making continuous contacts with
US and British embassies in Yangon, and following the orders of the two
embassies to the detriment of the interest of the nation and the people. The
people are constantly watching the party’s steps in making contacts with the
said two embassies. News reports had already been released that officials of the
two embassies had visited the NLD headquarters on West Shwegondine Road, Yangon,
for 34 times in January this year.
During the previous month, officials of the two embassies visited NLD HQ for 18
times to hold discussions and pass large and small parcels to the party.

Party members take no interest in acts of NLD, no longer wish
to carry out duties of NLD 11 NLD party members resignn
Yangon, 6 March — U Myint Aung and U Chit Pe, members of
National League for Democracy in Pinlebu Township, Katha District, Sagaing
Division and nine party members of Sagaing Township NLD, namely, U Kyaw Hlaing,
U Nay Win, U Win Kyaing, U Maung Htay, U Aye Thein, U Maung Oo, U Nyan Lin, U
Daung and U Kan Chun of Taungyin Village out of own volition sent their letters
of resignation to NLD headquarters and the respective local authorities on 15
and 30 December 2006 respectively.
In their letters of resignation, they said they took no interest in the acts of
NLD and had no trust in the party. They no longer wished to carry out the duties
of the party. Therefore, they said, they resigned from the NLD.

Lt-Gen Aung Htwe attends prize presentation ceremony of
Military Band Competition

Nay Pyi Taw, 6 March — The closing ceremony of the 15th
Defence Services (Army, Navy and Air) Military Band Competition to mark the 62nd
Anniversary Armed Forces Day was held in conjunction with a prize presentation
ceremony at the parade ground, here, this morning, attended by Chairman of the
Leading Committee for Observance of the 62nd Anniversary Armed Forces Day,
Member of the State Peace and Development Council, Chief of Armed Forces
Training Lt-Gen Aung Htwe.
Also present on the occasion were Chairman of Management Committee Commander of
Nay Pyi Taw Command Brig-Gen Wai Lwin, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for
the Military Band Competition Vice-Adjutant-General Maj-Gen Hla Shwe, senior
military officers of the Ministry of Defence, members of panel of judges and
Tatmadawmen.
After taking positions, Tatmadawmen from the participating military bands
saluted Chief of Armed Forces Training Lt-Gen Aung Htwe and the State Flag, paid
tribute to fallen soldiers and recited four oaths.
In the military band competition, Yangon Command clinched the first prize,
trailed by North-East Command with the second prize and followed by Eastern
Command with third prize. Next, Chief of the Armed Forces Training Lt-Gen Aung
Htwe presented prizes to the officials of the winning bands.

Religious Affairs Ministry holds coord meeting
Nay Pyi Taw, 6 March— Ministry of Religious Affairs held a
work coordination meeting at the ministry here this morning with an address by
Minister Brig-Gen Thura Myint Maung.
Also present at the meeting were Advisor U Arnt Maung and officials of the
departments under the ministry.
Director U Zar Ni Win of the Religious Affairs Department, Director-General Dr
Myo Myint of Department for Promotion and Propagation of the Sasana and Pro-Rector(Admin)
Dr Kyi Myint of International Tharavada Buddhist University reported on tasks
being carried out by their respective departments.
The officials briefed on the religious matters of States/Divisions, opening of
youth training schools in Kalay and Pakokku.
The meeting ended with concluding remarks by Minister Brig-Gen Thura Myint Maung.

Minister for Electric Power No 2 inspects power distribution
in two townships
Yangon, 5 March— Minister for Electric Power No 2 Maj-Gen
Khin Maung Myint, accompanied by officials, arrived in Kawhmu Township
Electrical Engineer’s Office on 3 March.
At the office, Head of Township Electrical Engineer’s Office U Aung Kyaw Tun
briefed on power supply and consumption to the minister.
In meeting with the staff, the minister said that the ministry opened Township
Electrical Engineer’s Offices inside and outside Yangon to supply power to the
townships. Arrangements are to be made for regular supply of electricity to the
suburban townships.
Next, the minister and party went to Kungyangon Township Electrical Engineer’s
Office.
At the office, Head of Township Electrical Engineer’s Office U Nay Oo reported
on distribution of power from Ywama power station.
Afterwards, the minister gave necessary instructions on regular distribution of
power.
Then, the minister inspected milling of rice at Aye Chan Aung Rice mill.

Roads, bridges inspected in Yangon Division
Yangon, 6 March — Minister for Construction Maj-Gen Saw Tun
and Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Myint Thein inspected upgrading of road section on
Yangon-Pathein Road on 4 March.
An official reported on paving of road and arrangements. The minister told
officials to build the road in accord with the standards set.
The minister inspcted a road linking No 5 Highway and Dalla-Twantay Road. It is
a major road linking Yangon and Pyapon, Dedaye and Kungyangon Townships.
The minister told the workers to upgrade the road into all-weather one.
The minister and party inspected construction of Dagon Bridge in Dagon Myothit (Seikkan)
Township.
The six-lane reinforced concrete bridge is 4,540 feet long and 72 feet wide with
six feet walkways on both sides. It can withstand 75-ton loads.

Minister for Industry-2 inspects farm equipment and automobile
part factories
Yangon, 6 March — Minister for Industry-2 Maj-Gen Saw Lwin
and officials inspected No 2 farm equipment factory (Malun) of Myanma
Agricultural Machinery Industries in Minhla Township, Magway Division on 3
March.
General Manager U Thein Aung reported on production of parts of the tractor and
display of the tractors for sale.
The minister gave instructions on production of tractors and trailers to exceed
the targets, quality control and efficient use of power and fuel.
The minister also inspected No 2 motor factory (Htonbo) in Padaung Township on 4
March. He gave instructions on production in accord with the set standards, full
operation at the factory, production of new items and worksite safety.

Yangon Mayor inspects sanitation and proper drainage in
townships
Yangon, 6 March—Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee
Mayor Brig-Gen Aung Thein Lin accompanied by officials arrived at the corner of
Maha Bandoola and Lanmadaw streets in Lanmadaw Township this morning.
They inspected tasks for proper drainage and sanitation.

Insein Township, upgrading of Insein Road from Parami junction in Hline Township
to Hledan junction in Hledan Township, the paving of the 500-fooft long and

Workshop on cervix cancer held
Yangon, 6 March—Workshop on cervix cancer was held at No (1)
Defence Services Obstetric & Gynaecology and Child Hospital (300-bed) in
Mingaladon here yesterday morning.
It was attended by Cervix Cancer Specialist Dr Marleen Praet of Support Fund
Myanmar (Belgium) Team and members, Commandant of the hospital Professor Col
Kyaw Nyunt, OG specialists, guests and OG trainees of Defence Services Medical
Academy.
Professor Col Kyaw Nyunt explained the salient points of the workshop and
Specialist Dr Marleen Praet clarified matters on cervix cancer and surgical
operations and answered queries raised by those present.
Cervix Cancer Specialist Dr Marleen Praet and party in cooperation with
Professor Col Kyaw Nyunt and OG specialists will perform surgical operations on
seven cervix cancer patients from 7 to 9 March.

trying to shape a fair judicial system that can win the trust and reliance of
the people upholding such good deeds as impartiality, justice, equality and
goodwill.

performing his or her duty commits bribery and malpractice, seeks self-interest
or breaches existing rules and regulations and procedures, complaints can be

Measures taken as to death of fowls and birds in townships of
Yangon Division
Yangon, 6 March—The Livestock Breeding and Veterinary
Department is taking measures regarding the death of fowls and birds in
townships of Yangon Division.
Altogether ten crows, seven pigeons, one greater coucal, one dove and one myna
were found dead in Ahlon, Yankin, Mingala Taungnyunt, Hline, Pabedan, South
Okkalapa, North Okkalapa, Tamway and Thanlyin townships of Yangon Division on
6-3-2007. But no fowls and ducks were found dead in those townships.
According to the laboratory test, the dead birds showed no sign of avian flu.

Two wounded by terrorist-planted mines
Yangon, 6 March — Terrorist insurgents have been resorting to
various means to undermine stability of State, community peace, the rule of law
and public security. At about 9 am on 4 March, a terrorist-planted mine blasted
the right foot of a villager from ankle on a bullock-cart track near Panin
village in Shwegyin Township. The victim, U Tun Tun Oo, of Pugonmyaung village,
Nyaunglebin Township, was hit by the mine while searching fire wood together
with a companion. He was sent to 100-bed hospital in Shwegyin.
Another person of ward 6, Mone town, Bago Division, was wounded in both feet and
face by a terrorist-planted mine at about 10.30 am the same day near
Thingyantaung, while cutting bamboo together with two friends. The victim, Maung
Zaw Lin Tun, has been warded at Mone hospital. Authorities are providing
necessary help for both mine victims.
The people are feeling a deep loathing of the terrorist insurgents who are
planting mines in places frequented by the public.

MFPTMA members to inform addresses, phone and Fax numbers
Yangon, 6 March— The CEC of Myanmar Forest Products and
Timber Merchants Association urged its member associations and companies to
urgently inform their present addresses, telephone and Fax numbers to UMFCCI
Office Tower (Fax 214840) at No 29, Min Ye Kyaw Swa Road in Lanmadaw Township.

Fire breaks out in Ingon village, relief centre opened, relief
aids provided
Yangon, 6 March — Fire burnt down 44 houses in a village in
Thazi Township, Meiktila District, this afternoon.
About 250 persons were left homeless by the fire in Ingon Village, which started
from the house of U Kyaw Htay at about 1.30 pm today. Officials have opened a
relief centre for fire victims at the village monastery, and are providing
necessary assistance to them. The cause of fire was due to negligence.

Clerical work refresher course No 1/2007 concludes
Nay Pyi Taw, 5 March — The clerical work refresher course No
1/2007 of the Ministry of Finance and Revenue concluded at the ministry, here
this morning.
Minister for Finance and Revenue Maj-Gen Hla Tun spoke on the
occasion. He said concerted efforts are to be made for realizing the objectives
of the State. The staff are to serve the interest of the people. He urged them
to possess work efficiency and to try to become service personnel on whom the
people can rely.
The course was attended by 75 trainees. Also present were Deputy Minister Col
Hla Thein Swe, Governor of Central Bank of Myanmar U Kyaw Kyaw Maung and
managing directors and directorsgeneral under the ministry.

UMFCCI to open new building
YANGON, 6 March—Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of
Commerce and Industry will open its new UMFCCI Office Tower on 10 March at No
29, Min Ye Kyaw Swa Road in Lanmadaw Township at 9 am. It will also hold its
annual general meeting at 9.30 am at the Mingalar Hall of the Office Tower the
same day. Moreover, talks on various subjects, meetings and trade fair will also
be conducted and thus members are urged to attend the ceremonies.
