Favouring a monkey
without knowing its real character
Terrorist acts have killed and
destroyed and are killing and destroying lives and property of the people of
Myanmar. The terrorist gangs under the names — NCUB, NCGUB, FTUB, ABSDF, SSA-S
and VBSW — are hatching plots to ruin the interest of Myanmar and her people,
with the help of their masters, while taking refuge at Myanmar-Thai border and
in some big countries of the West.
Those gangs are shouting at the
top of their voice to deceive the international community to come to believe
that their destructive acts are meant for flourishing of democracy in Myanmar.
They in reality are trying to get into and dominate the UN and its subordinate
agencies, with the help and support of global neo-colonialists to put political
and economic pressures on Myanmar.
They in collusion with the
so-called politicians and MPs who are servants and under the influences of
global neo-colonialists have made attempts to trick the UN Security Council to
pave the way for the international community to interfere in the Myanmar’s
internal affairs and to expel the nation from the ASEAN.
Under the arrangements and
directives of global neo-colonialists, fugitives and terrorists of Myanmar are
trying to deceive the UN agencies, the ASEAN and the ILO to oppress and
manipulate Myanmar in her political and economic affairs, with groundless
excuses.
Together with the report — Threat
to the Peace: A Call for the UN Security Council to Act in the Burma — of former
Czech President Vaclav Havel and Bishop Desmond Tutu, the so-called group by the
name “MPs of ASEAN nations” issued a report demanding the ASEAN to expel Myanmar
from the Association. Actually, the reports are nothing more than an evil plot
of the worst of its kind that is unrealistic and bearing negative views, devoid
of any sense of dignity.
Why? Because the false accusation
concerning the Tatmadaw’s forced recruitment of over 70,000 child soldiers is
the result of the plot made by a colonialist spy agency under the guise of an
NGO in collusion with 20 or so fugitives and deserters. The slander regarding
the drug trafficking case is in contrast with the objective conditions of
Myanmar. In addition, the slander ignores Myanmar’s self-reliant efforts to wipe
out the problem of narcotics as a national task. The truth is that the UNODC
report indicated a 73 per cent decrease in the poppy cultivation in Myanmar
during the period from 1996 to 2004. Moreover, Myanmar has 19 times torched and
destroyed narcotic drugs whose value would be at US$ 14.661 billion in the
presence of diplomats and the national people. The nation has already declared
some of its former poppy growing areas drug free zones. She has also signed the
MoU with other countries of the Mekong Subregion to make the whole subregion a
drug free zone.
The repeated fabricated
accusations on violation of democracy and human rights in Myanmar show the
conspirators’ ill will towards the country. Myanmars have the lovely tradition
of helping one another in social undertakings in urban as well as in rural
areas. They, out of goodwill, build roads, bridges, lakes and religious
buildings through collective efforts and lend a helping hand in funeral
services. The accusations branding our fine traditions as forced labour and
human rights violations are just slanders the perpetrators are referring to the
social norms of the West as the standard practice of human beings.
The Myanmar government and the
people laid down the seven-point Road Map and are implementing it for emergence
of a peaceful, modern and developed discipline-flourishing democratic state, the
ultimate goal of the nation. Myanmar is now in the process of successfully
holding the National Convention, the foundation of the Road Map. Over 1,000
delegates in which 60 per cent of them are national races delegates and 40 per
cent representatives of political parties and people from all walks of life are
actively holding discussions and laying down basic principles for framing a new
constitution. The country and the government are making practical efforts for
democratization process. They are launching the democracy transition not only as
a show.
At the same time, the politicians
of the so-called group of ASEAN MPs who are pressing their respective
governments to expel Myanmar from the Association unless the Myanmar government
accepts the demand of releasing leaders of the National League for Democracy and
the so-called political prisoners and the dialogue. But the demands are no more
than the act of beating about the bush.
The principle — Non-interference
in the internal affairs of one another — is clearly stated in the fundamental
principles of the ASEAN, and the UN Charter firmly states the principle — Mutual
respect for the independence, sovereignty, equality, territorial integrity, and
national identity of all member nations.
It is an undeniable fact that the
government after taking control of the internal situation permitted formation of
political parties for flourishing of democracy in the nation. It held a free and
fair election on 27 May 1990. It also issued the Notification No 1/90 inviting
all political parties to come forward and make coordination with it for shaping
a peaceful and stable future. But sadly, the NLD with excessive pride strongly
rejected the government’s proposal saying that it would not follow the
government’s plan. The NLD demanded convening of the parliament and the transfer
of power first, and the holding of the National Convention second. While
insisting the demand, it held a clandestine meeting at the embassy of a certain
western nation to set up a parallel government, a crime, the NLD cannot hide.
First the NLD attended the
National Convention sponsored by the government to draft a new constitution. But
later, it started to oppose the National Convention and then walked out of it on
own volition under orders of its colonialist masters. It is an unforgettable
misdeed of the NLD.
The NLD went so far that it even
formed the illegal so-called Pyithu Hluttaw Representative Committee, and sent
an ultimatum to the government to call the parliament within 60 days. It
launched opposition against the government by forming the Pyitthu Hluttaw
Representative Committee without the existence of the parliament and issued an
announcement saying that the party could not agree to and acknowledge the
existing laws and bylaws. However, there are a lot of evidences that the
government exercised much patience and tolerance to solve the problem and
control the tense situation created by the NLD.
Some western powers, the
so-called ASEAN MPs and the Nobel laureates are inflicting slanders on Myanmar,
while totally believing and relying on the information sent to them by
fugitives, expatriates and terrorists, without studying the above-mentioned
conditions in an objective way. It is time they had the correct vision after
amending their stand and attitude, instead of always seeing Myanmar from the
negative point of view.
NCUB, NCGUB, FTUB, ABSDF, SSA-S
and VBSW under the guise of democracy advocates are committing terrorist acts
inside Myanmar while taking refuge at Myanmar-Thai border and in some western
nations. Those gangs murdered innocent people, hijacked passenger planes,
hatched plots to assassinate State leaders and high level officials including
the late Lt-Gen Tin Oo, in which a university teacher was killed by a parcel
bomb, and plotted to blow up some Myanmar missions abroad, seized the Myanmar
Embassy and a hospital in Thailand, and blew up bombs at Dagon Centre,
Junction-8 and Yangon Trade Centre in the city.
In this age, the common enemy of
all nations and peoples of the world is terrorism that is totally in contrast
with democracy. In this context, the powers which practise and advocate
democracy, politicians and eminent persons should not believe all the slanders
sent to them by the NCUB, NCGUB, FTUB, ABSDF, SSA-S and VBSW. They should not
launch lopsided and unjust accusations against Myanmar, without thoroughly
analyzing the information the gangs have sent to them. If they do so, they will
be like favouring a monkey without knowing its real character with shame and
disgrace as the answer.
